Investing in a Life Coach

5 Reasons to Invest in a Life Coach

We never blink an eye at the fact that the world’s top athletes have coaches, so why do some of us still think it’s a sign of weakness to hire someone to help us excel in our personal and professional lives? Why do some of us think that by the time we’re  X years of age, or we’ve been running the company for X number of years, that we “should” be able to do it all ourselves? Really? What if I told you that people who actively work with a coach are better self- managers; have increased self- awareness and therefore naturally build stronger relationships; they see challenges as opportunities and possess greater resilience and drive, would you still think coaching is for the weak? As the old African proverb goes, “if you want to go fast go alone, if you want to go far, go together” Coaching gets you to go further.

  1. If you don’t know where to start- Life can be overwhelming at times, there’s no doubt about that! It can often feel like we are surviving and not thriving as we struggle to keep up with the ever-increasing demands and expectations we place on ourselves and those around us too. Do you ever feel like you’re on a hamster wheel, just going around and around? Ever wonder what would happen if you could stop the hamster wheel and jump off, what would you do? I ask this question because when I asked a potential client this recently he said, “Well, even if I could stop the hamster wheel and jump off, I’d have no idea where to start sorting all this out!” That’s where investing in a coach helps, as we break these bigger (often seemingly unmanageable) tasks into smaller chunks, help you identify the best starting point for YOU and we go from there. We get you to that starting point!

  1. If you want to be more successful- one of the things I absolutely love about coaching is that it’s solution and action focused; it helps to create even more success in all areas of your life. Do you want to be even more successful in your profession? Do you want to set up your own business? Do you want to develop successful habits? Coaching is a goal-orientated process and hence, personal reflection and evaluation are an imperative part of it. It’s not just about becoming more aware of the patterns you are using, but tweaking that process through trial and error to achieve the results you want.

  1. If you want to build better relationships- I’ve yet to meet anyone who wouldn’t like to improve a relationship they are currently in, be that a personal or a professional one. NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) Coaching is particularly effective in building better relationships as it hones in on the relationship between the brain, language used, and the body; how we communicate with ourselves and how we communicate and behave with others. Investing in a coach (an NLP Coach in particular) will help to pinpoint certain patterns you use in your relationships; identify the thinking errors that are often present in these patterns and put steps in place to create more constructive patterns and processes. Coaching works to give you the communication tools you need to develop the best relationships possible, it’s about getting the cogs of the machine to run smoothly and this is what coaching does.

  1. If you want to create a work-life balance- If you had this work-life balance you dream of, what would that allow you to do? What difference would it make to your personal life, your relationships and your work? Are there things in life that you’d like to say no to? If you said no to certain things what would you be able to say yes to? Many of the people I work with are seeking this type of balance, but we know we don’t wake up one morning and it magically happens! Work -Life balance is something that we must create ourselves and that means we must take consistent decisive action to evaluate what’s not working in our lives and make the necessary changes. Coaching empowers you to create the changes you want.

  1. If you want to continue to grow personally and professionally- When was the last time you made time to sit down and consider what you want to achieve personally and professionally? How have you invested in your personal and professional growth recently? What action are you taking to continue to grow both personally and professionally? It’s important to know what you want in life because once you know what you want then you can work with your coach to identify the path you can take, and the resources, skills and tools you will need to get there.  Investing in ourselves is incredibly important for our self-worth and coaching focuses on developing personal and professional excellence.
